Becky Hill is a talented singer/songwriter who I came across while checking out new music on iTunes. Come to find out, Hill is a pretty big deal in the U.K. She has contributed to – and has been successful with – several projects, including vocalist and co-writer on Oliver Heldens’ No. 1 record “Gecko (Overdrive)” as well as a tune from Rudimental’s No. 1 debut album, Home. Now, Hill is venturing out on her own by working on a debut album to be released this year.
Hailing from Bewdley, Worcestershire, U.K. Hill began to make music in a band called Shaking Tress. Hill rose to prominence as a contestant on the first season of “The Voice U.K.” where she finished as a semi-finalist. Since her appearance on the show, Hill has gone on to contribute her talents on numerous projects as well as post covers of songs such as “Too Close” by Alex Clare. Hill has also been nominated for the Brand New for 2015 Award by MTV.
Hill is now hard at work on a debut, solo album and has released a single off of the forthcoming album to iTunes. “Losing” has already garnered a lot of attention in the U.K., debuting at No. 56 on the U.K. Singles Chart. The song has a nice groove to it and Hill’s voice is one you can’t help but love. So what’s “Losing” about? In an interview with Attitude Magazine, Hill references two broken relationships as inspiration for the song. “I’m done with having failed relationships because what I keep doing is getting into these things and seeing it backfire; I’m through with losing,” Hill said in the interview.
