I normally don’t post reviews for films on television, but I felt led to do so for the third in a series of Garage Sale Mystery films from Hallmark.
The Deadly Room continues the story of consignment shop owner turned sleuth, Jennifer Shannon (Lori Loughlin) with a new case regarding the mysterious death of her friend, Adrian, a real estate agent. Adrian receives the listing for an 1800s home that’s rumored to be deadly. Determined to put the rumors to rest, Adrian decides to sleep in the room at the center of the rumors and broadcast what happens online via webcam. Adrian doesn’t survive the night and is found to have died from natural causes. Thinking something is not quite right with Adrian’s death, Jennifer puts her investigative skills to work and finds that not everything is as it seems.
For a television film, The Deadly Room was enjoyable to watch. I’m a sucker for a good mystery anyway. Of course, there were some parts that were a little cheesy and predictable. However, the stellar performances from Loughlin and her co-stars Steve Bacic, Brendan Meyer, Eva Bourne and Sarah Strange, to name a few – as well as a pretty darn creative story from writers Walter Klenhard and Suzie Weinart – balance out the sometimes cheesy, er, hallmarks found in Hallmark films.
I Give It A: B
