My Review: Spy

Spy is a film that’ll make you laugh all the way to the end.
The film stars Melissa McCarthy as Susan Cooper, a deskbound CIA analyst who is the unsung hero of several of the agency’s missions. But, when her agent partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another agent’s cover is blown, Cooper volunteers to go undercover in a mission to stop a deadly arms dealer – and global disaster.
I liked Spy overall. There was a nice mix of both action and comedy in it – which is something I enjoy watching. McCarthy, Law and Rose Byrne gave great performances but I have to say Miranda Hart stole the show as Nancy, the sidekick/colleague/friend of McCarthy’s Susan. She was absolutely hilarious! The amount of profanity in the film made me dock my grade for it. Of course, Spy is rated R, so it’s not surprising that it had profanity. However, a lot of the profane words tossed around by multiple characters seemed over the top and unnecessary in some parts of the film.
I Give It A: B-
