NMM: The Sweeplings

I’m featuring a rising duo with a familiar face as one of its members for this week’s “New Music Monday.”

The Sweeplings is a group with roots in two completely different parts of the country that’s come together and has been well-received. In fact, the duo has already had one of its songs played on national TV during a commercial for “The Fosters” on ABC Family. Now, The Sweeplings has released its first, full length project.
It all began when the wife of singer-songwriter, Whitney Dean, saw a female vocalist audition for “America’s Got Talent.” The auditionee was none other than Cami Bradley, who ended up finishing as a finalist on the show. If you recall, I met Bradley on the “AGT” Live Tour and featured her on this blog in 2013. It was a long shot but, after a few messages on social media, Dean flew cross-country to meet Bradley in her home state of Washington and collaborate. According to The Sweeplings’ Facebook page, eight songs were written in just three days. Dean and Bradley then headed to Dean’s home state of Alabama, where three more songs were written and the duo performed a sold out show. With the excellent marketing efforts of Dean’s wife, Bethany, and Bradley’s husband, Eric, The Sweeplings is a duo that’s on the rise and one that you should definitely look out for.
Rise & Fall, the new album, provides listeners with 11 relaxing, yet, haunting tunes that will soothe the soul – think The Civil Wars but even better. In fact, I listened to previews of each song on iTunes and I actually got lost in the music. I didn’t want it to end, which is always a good sign!
Check out “Carry Me Home” – the first track off the new album – and be sure to get the album on iTunes or wherever you purchase your music.
