NMM: Switchfoot

It’s back!
New Music Monday has returned after a pretty long hiatus (check here if you missed any of my previous NMM posts). Although I may not post weekly as in the past, I wanted to get back to sharing some new music – and, perhaps, new artists – with you. I’m starting it up again with a group that’s been around the block: Switchfoot. The San Diego, Calif.-based group has produced hit after hit, winning several awards – including a Grammy – along the way.

Switchfoot’s music has always been apart of my life. I remember going through my teenage years listening to “Dare You to Move” and “Meant to Live.” A lot. I don’t know why but I got out of listening to the group’s music for some time. But when I started listening to the new album – Switchfoot’s 10th – I’m proud to say that I’m back on the train!

Where the Light Shines Through is an album all about finding hope in the darkness. In fact, the very song I’m featuring in this post – “Float” – could be its rallying cry. Switchfoot filmed the video for this song while on tour in Manila (you can read more about that here) and the group’s members found inspiration while there. They realized that, even with all the turmoil in the world, there is living, breathing hope out there. We all need that these days.

Check out “Float” in the video below, get the new album and be sure to catch these guys on tour (they’ll be in Raleigh on Oct. 29 and Charlotte Nov. 2 for my North Carolina peeps)!
