1. Supercon Wrap-Up
The first ever Raleigh Supercon is in the books, wrapping on Sunday! It was, coincidentally, my first “con” of any kind and I had a blast! Just in case you missed it (or want to read it again, I won’t judge), check out a story I wrote on meeting Gaten Matarazzo from Stranger Things at Supercon. it’s definitely worth the read! Supercon is coming back in August 2018 and I’m already looking forward to it. Especially if organizers can bring back Gaten and/or some of the other cast members from the show!
2. Seacrest Is Back!!!!
Ryan Seacrest announced on Live with Kelly and Ryan Thursday that he’s returning as host of American Idol! Let’s face it, the show is really nothing without Seacrest as host so this is welcomed news for sure! I guess we’ll be hearing more of this soon…

3. Ticketmaster Update
Much to my surprise, Ticketmaster released more eligible shows for customers to redeem free ticket vouchers on. This has been a topic I’ve discussed numerous times here on Reflections and the latest list is still not sitting well with many – including yours truly. For starters, I wouldn’t have even known about the newly released list had I not checked my email’s “Junk” folder. It appears that Outlook agrees with me: this whole thing is a bunch of junk. The one show I had hoped to be on the list was John Mayer at Walnut Creek. But I should’ve known better given how ridiculous this whole ordeal has been. The new “list” of eligible shows in Raleigh contains a whopping six choices. Yes, six. All at the same venues as before (Walnut Creek and The Ritz) and shows I have no interest in. Meanwhile, Charlotte got more than double the amount of shows on its list (16) and I’ve seen from fellow disgruntled customers that some other major cities didn’t get any shows at all. Plus, the announcement of a new list of shows came just out of the blue as the summer concert season is winding down. That’s pretty darn shady, in my opinion. But I’m sure Ticketmaster’s hope is that customers won’t use the vouchers at all.
Will I ever be able to use my free ticket vouchers? I doubt it, the rate this is going, but stay tuned.
4. Happy Ann’y, Apollo 11
On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to step foot on the Moon. Dozens took to social media to commemorate the 48th anniversary and NASA even released some cool footage from its archive featuring Armstrong’s depiction of his first impressions of the Moon.
Happy, Ann’y to Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins!
5. Dunkirk, In 70mm
If you know me, you know I practically live at the movie theater. That is no different, today, as I went to see Christopher Nolan’s new film, Dunkirk. In fact, I was able to take part in a “special engagement screening” of the film, where it was shown in 70mm. The decision to show the film in some different formats, particularly 70mm, has garnered much hype in anticipation of its release. Beyond that, Dunkirk has also received tons of Oscar buzz. Be sure to stay tuned for my review of the film, coming soon!
