1. Grace Makes History at The Open

The Open Championship always tends to make history each year. This year was no different as Branden Grace shot the first ever 62 in a major. The 29-year-old South African was “slightly dumbfounded” after being told of his accomplishment by his caddie, according to Newsday. Grace’s score beats a 63, shot by Johnny Miller in the final round of the 1973 U.S. Open. Congrats, Branden! What a huge accomplishment!

2. Season Two is Coming

Netflix released a special, “Thriller” themed trailer for Stranger Things Season Two during San Diego Comic Con and, if this doesn’t get you stoked about the new season or interested in the show itself, nothing will!

I’ve become a huge fan of Stranger Things and even got to meet one of its stars, Gaten Matarazzo (third from left in the video), a couple weeks back. I can’t wait for the next chapter in the tremendous series!

 Season Two premieres October 27 on Netflix.

3. USMNT

The U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team won the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Wednesday night in Santa Clara, Calif., defeating Jamaica by a score of 2-1. Jozy Altidore got the scoring started for the U.S. with a blistering, free kick strike just before the break. In the second half, Jamaica’s Je-Vaugh Watson equalized the game at 1, that is, until the U.S. and Jordan Morris provided late-game (88th minute, to be precise) heroics with a strike to make it 2-1 and seal the Gold Cup victory for the home team. Congrats, guys!

4. Falcons’ Bizarre Move

I read about this on Facebook Thursday night (shoutout to Fan Freedom). 

The Atlanta Falcons are set to begin playing games in a new, state-of-the-art venue. You know, the one where Falcons officials touted cheap concessions?  That talk will most likely be all for naught as Fan Freedom shared an article on Facebook from a website called ForTheWin. The article discussed a decision made by the Falcons organization that no single-game tickets would be sold for the team’s games this season. Rather, if fans wanted to catch a game, they would have to purchase season tickets and personal seat licenses (PSLs). ForTheWin cited the Atlanta Journal Constitution, saying Falcons fans would have to spend anywhere from $55 to $385 per game on tickets and an additional $500 to $45,000 per seat for the PSL.

This move will, most likely, price out many “everyday” fans from attending games, which is a crying shame. Sure, the move may make sense financially for Falcons owner, Arthur Blank, in an effort to recoup funds used to build the new stadium. However, you don’t want to alienate any segment of your fan base. The Falcons organization’s decision does just that, in my opinion. I said this on Facebook and I’ll say it here: if any team I root for started something like this, I would immediately find another team to root for.
