My Friday Five: On Luke Mate, Rickie Fowler & Netflix News

1. Congrats, Luuuukkkkeeee

Big congrats to UNC’s Luke Maye, who was named ACC Player of the Week. Maye has developed into a key piece for the Heels this season, averaging 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 blocks in three recent wins for Carolina. This is Maye’s second ACC Player of the Week honor – and it’s well deserved!

2. Congrats, Rickie

Congrats are also in order for one of my favorite golfers, Rickie Fowler, who won the Hero World Challenge in comeback fashion. Fowler rallied from seven shots behind to shoot a round of 61 (-14 for the tournament) and take home the win. How awesome?!?

3. Netflix News

Got two pieces of Netflix news for ya: 1) Stranger Things has been renewed for a third season and 2) Sabrina, the Teenage Witch is making a comeback. First off, I’m ecstatic that Stranger Things is getting a season three. The show is not just one of my favorite shows right now, it joins a very short list as one of my all-time favorites. Netflix announced that a new season was happening in the best way ever, too!

In other news, a reboot (of sorts) of the Nickelodeon series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch received a straight-to-series order from Netflix. I said “reboot of sorts” because, according to Deadline, the new show will reimagine the character, providing a more dark storyline to viewers. Much like its companion Riverdale, which reimagines the characters in the Archie Comics. It’ll be interesting to see it all unfold.

4. Another LCT in the Books

Its hard to believe yet another year of Living Christmas Tree performances are done. It’s even harder to believe I just wrapped up my 11th year of playing in the orchestra for this event. How the time flies! We performed six sold out shows in four days and it ended up being a lot of fun this year. Up next will be a Disney-themed show sometime in the spring. I can’t wait!

5. Let Me Know

I always like to get feedback from my readers on what they’d like to see here on the blog and on my site as a whole. The new year is quickly approaching and I’m toying with the idea of changing up my site design. If that happened, what would you change or like to see? Do you have any blog post ideas? Drop me a line in the comments or contact me. I’d love to hear your ideas!
