With just a week left until Oscars night, prepare thyselves for reviews on the final seven films in the remaining seven days.

Next up is Luca Guadignino’s Call My By Your Name, taking us to 1983 Italy where we meet Elio (Tmothée Chalamet), a 17-year-old who is learning about life. When his father’s research assistant, Oliver (Armie Hammer), visits, an unmistakeable bond forms between he and Elio. It’s a true – and somewhat heartbreaking – coming of age film about life, love, family and relationships.

I heard all of the hype regarding Call Me By Your Name but I wasn’t so sure how it would end up. On a technical standpoint, the film is unequivocally ravishing. The colors are tremendously vibrant, echoing the entrancement of Northern Italy in summertime. The directing and camera work, pure sublimity. Chalamet and Hammer steal the show as Elio and Oliver, giving exquisite performances and showcasing an undeniable chemistry on screen.

I had my doubts but, once I saw it, I was not the least bit surprised that Call Me By Your Name was nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture. It’s a must see.
