1. Musings on The Fosters Finale
Well, that’s it, folks. After a five-year run, The Fosters has come to an end. As you may know, I haven’t shied away from expressing my disgust with concluding the show. Particularly because I felt there was more story to be told and the decision to make this the final season seemed hasty. The three-part finale was mostly useless except for the final 10-15 minutes of the last episode, which featured several flashbacks with the whole family. I knew the show couldn’t go on forever but it’s a shame it ended the way it did.
Up next is a spinoff called Good Trouble which will reportedly focus more on just two characters from the original series. Yawn. In my view, it’s a true disservice to fans and I will not be watching.
2. Joe Biden Comes to Durham
Vice President Joe Biden visited Durham on Wednesday as a part of his “American Promise Tour.” Biden is traveling the country on this tour in support of a memoir he authored entitled Promise Me, Dad: A Year I’d Hope, Hardship and Purpose. Biden discussed his memoir and life for more than an hour in front of a sold out crowd at Durham Performing Arts Center. This was my second time seeing Biden in the past year and it was an incredible evening. The conversation was engaging as he talked about his son, Beau, who he lost to cancer as well as the nature of American politics. I’ll conclude by simply sharing what I posted on Twitter after the event…
Great time hearing from a personal hero: @JoeBiden. An incredible HUMAN who cares for others. This is the second discussion of his that I’ve attended and as a young guy in his 20’s who’s always had an affinity for politics, etc. I hope I can meet him someday! #AmericanPromiseTour pic.twitter.com/7xHmLPOmJj

Let me tell you, it’s been rewarding to support them and even support aqauiantences who later on become my friends. Spread the love and positivity. It goes a long way!
4. In the Heights Film Date Set
We’re getting closer! After a recent announcement that the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit Broadway musical, In the Heights, found a new home, we now have a release date set! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the highly-anticipated film is scheduled for a June 26, 2020 release, with Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) slated to direct. All I can say is…OHHHH YEAAAA!
5. iHOP to i…HOB?
Is iHOP, the beloved breakfast restaurant, really changing its name to iHOB? The chain posted about a change to its name coming later this month but offered no reason behind the change. That left social medialites in a frenzy, trying to figure out what the “B” means. Of course, the natural answer is “breakfast” but iHOP restaurants do serve more than just breakfast. I guess time will tell.
