1. The Masters Tickets Update

A fee months ago, I submitted an application for tickets to the 2019 Masters Tournament. Once the application deadline passed, tournament officials apparently selected applicants at random to purchase tickets. I received an email today stating that I was not selected to receive that opportunity. The ticketing process for the golf tournament is very competitive, so I can’t say I’m surprised. I am, however, very disappointed and I’ll see if I even bother to watch the tournament in 2019. 

2. Durham Bulls On Top of the IL

The first place Durham Bulls, despite quite a few roster changes this season, currently have the best record in the International League after winning against divisional foe Charlotte on Thursday. The Bulls also became the first team in the league to reach the 50-win mark this season. One thing that really helped was a seven game win streak, which catipulted the club from a 1.5 game lead to a 5.5 game lead over second place Norfolk. The Bulls will face the Tides in a three-game set beginning tonight at Durham Bulls Athletic Park before the all-star break. Go Bulls! 

3. Stranger Things Night

Speaking of the Bulls, we are now just one week away from Stranger Things Night and, judging by what I’ve heard, the squad is going all out! The game will feature several aspects that celebrate the show (for which its creators have Durham ties) and the team will wear specially-designed uniforms honoring Dustin, a character from the show.

As you may know, I’m a huge fan of Stranger Things. In fact, Dustin is my favorite character, so you already know I was stoked to see the Bulls’ jerseys for this night! Plus, the game comes just about a year since I actually met the guy who plays Dustin, Gaten Matarazzo, at Raleigh Supercon! It was an experience I’ll never forget and I’m sure next Friday night will be awesome as well! 

4. You Are Here Exhibit

I had the great opportunity to attend the You Are Here exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Art on Monday. Better still, I was able to attend the exhibit for free thanks to a program with the museum! All I had to do was claim my ticket online and show up. Not bad, eh?!? The exhibit was an interactive and immersive art experience that featured light, sound, and color. There were several truly unique pieces, but my favorite was Interactions by Anila Quayyum Agha, which used a laser-cut wooden structure and 600-watt lightbulb to project images of the wood cut-out onto the walls, floor, and ceiling surrounding it. A walk through completely enveloped me in the art. It gave a, sort of, calming feel as well. A photo I took of the artwork is below!

5. This Week’s Posts

My schedule has been pretty hectic for the past year or so, which means I’ve not had as much of an opportunity to post on my blog as I wish I could. That said, I’m trying to write more and did so this week with the return of “New Music Monday” featuring my dude Alex Preston and a fresh review on Uncle Drew.
