1. Hamilton on the Big Screen?
Could the smash Broadway musical, Hamilton, be coming to a big screen near you? According to Dave McNary of Variety, there has been a bidding war between to produce and release a large format, live performance feature of the show. McNary cited unnamed sources as telling The Wall Street Journal that the bidding reached a price of $50 million and the sellers are aiming for the recording to play in theaters and stream in 2020 or 2021. McNary also said that he recording took place in 2016, shortly before Lin-Manuel Miranda left the cast.
2020 or 2021? Well, I guess we’re just gonna have to “Wait for It.” 😜
2. Arts Fund for Puerto Rico
Spekaing of Lin-Mnuel Miranda and Hamilton, a multimillion-dollar arts fund has been established for the Puerto Rican Arts community which, like the island as a whole, is still recovering from Hurricane Maria. According to Rolling Stone, Miranda said he would love to see the fund reach $15 million and plans on donating all proceeds of Hamilton performances that will take place on the island in January to that effort.
Way to go, Lin!
3. Tuft & Needle Coming to Raleigh
How about some more awesome news?!? I learned this week that Tuft & Needle, the bedding company, is slated to open a store in Raleigh in the coming months! I really love this company and have the &Pillow (see my review here) which is excellent! I haven’t tried out one of the company’s mattresses yet but having a store in Raleigh will definitely make that easier. I can’t wait!
