My Friday Five: On Roy Williams, Apple & Swimming Honors

1. Roy Williams Court

The University of North Carolina announced Thursday that the court inside the Dean E. Smith Center will officially be named Roy Williams Court. The honor for the hall of fame coach of the Tar Heels was inevitable but well deserved. In his tenure at Carolina, Williams is sixth all-time in win percentage and seventh in wins by a D-I head coach (842). He reached 800 wins in fewer seasons and the second-fewest games in NCAA history. Most recently, Williams became the only coach in NCAA history to guide his alma mater to three national championships.

Roy Williams Court. That has a nice ring, er, three rings to it. 💍💍💍 Congrats, Coach Williams!

2. Apple Reaches $1 Trillion

They did it! Apple became the first publicly-traded company in the United States to reach $1 Trillion on Thursday. The tech giant reached this new milestone thanks in large part to people like you and me who purchase products year in and year out. You can put my check in the mail, Mr. Cook. 😜

3. Honors for Ress, Moore & Zevnik

Huge congrats to N.C. State swimmers Justin Ress, Hannah Moore, and Alexia Zevnik, who will represent the Wolfpack at the 2018 Pan-Pacific Championships. I’m definitely proud of these incredible athletes and I’m stoked for them to represent Pack swimming on the big stage! I wish them nothing but the best at these championships.

4. Stay Tuned

I’ve been a little behind on film reviews but I’ll have one coming up soon on A Quiet Place. Plus, I saw newly-released The Darkest Minds today, so be on the lookout for that as well.

5. New Music!

Make sure to check out my feature on Sean Grandillo. The talented actor and musician just released a cool, two-track project that’s definitely worth a listen!
