Another One In The Books

Another Wyndham Championship is in the books. Congrats to Brandt Snedeker on going wire-to-wire to claim his second Wyndham Championship victory and ninth on the PGA Tour!

It’s hard to believe it, but this is my fourth year attending the Wyndham. The tournament is held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro and I started attending in 2015, volunteering for one day and being a spectator a second day. It was a great experience and I’ve attended as a fan ever since. This year was no different as I had the opportunity to attend three separate days: the practice round, Friday’s second round, and the final round on Sunday.

Out of the three days, I’d say Friday was my favorite. Mainly because I was able to meet Joaquín Niemann, the golfing phenom who has burst onto the scene this year. I followed his group for the entire round and hung out at the designated “Autograph Zone” afterward to meet and snag a photo with him. Joaquín was such a genuinely great person and it was an honor to meet him. And that is a great thing about the Wyndham: fans can get pretty up close to their favorite golfers. Besides the exciting golf, that is the main reason I have returned each year since 2015.

Going to golf tournaments has provided a getaway from normal life. You would think it could be chaotic being around thousands of your fellow golf fans but this is actually not the case. Yes, despite the overzealous fan shouting out as his or her favorite golfer plays, the puffs of cigar smoke, and the always (un)expected North Carolina summer weather; it is a fun time.

See ya in 2019, Sedgefield!
