My Friday Five: On My Blog, Hamilton and A Life Update

1. I’m Back!

Sorry that I’ve been M.I.A. the past several weeks. It’s been a very busy time for me (more on that in a second) and I made the decision to move my entire website from Squarespace to WordPress. Squarespace was nice in the beginning, but I felt I could get more bang for my buck with WordPress. I was dishing out $144 a year for my site and domain registration on Squarespace, while I’m spending a mere $48 a year with WordPress (plus I got a Black Friday deal so it was even less). Couple that with several technical issues I’ve had with Squarespace in the past few months and it was a no brainer.

That said, please bear with me as I continue working on my site. I’ve kept the layout pretty much the same as how it was on Squarespace and the current domain is just temporary until the transfer process is complete on reflectcw.com (hopefully by this weekend). Thanks for sticking with me!

2. Experiencing Hamilton 😱

In the time I’ve been away, I finally got to experience Hamilton! The hit musics from Lin-Manuel Miranda has been playing Durham Performing Arts Center for about the past month and I was blessed with the opportunity to see it not once, but TWICE, thanks to being a season ticket holder at DPAC.

Let me tell ya, it was everything I hoped it would be and more! The cast was impeccably brilliant during the shows and just so downright kind to fans in Durham. Many, including Elijah Malcomb, Nik Walker, and Elon University product Fergie L. Philippe have interacted with fans via social media (including yours truly), or been at the stage door to sign autographs and take photos after each show. You name it.

I also went all in on merch. Even picking up a poster signed by the entire cast for a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. There is no doubt that #HamiltonDPAC will be remembered forever!

3. Life Update

In case you’re wondering, life has been pretty hectic for me as of late. I finished up my third season at the Durham Bulls and also took home Employee of the Year for my department, attended several events, and am busy helping my mom recover from knee replacement surgery. Plus, it’s coming up on the first of December, which means it’s Living Christmas Tree time once again and a special UNC game coming up all in the same week (see below)!

4. Living Christmas Tree 2018

Next week, I begin a gauntlet of a week. Mostly because of the Living Christmas Tree. This is the annual production that I perform in as a member of the orchestra and it’s always a fun time. Click here for more info on dates and times (plus snag your FREE tickets).

5. A Special UNC Game

Smack dab in the middle of LCT week, I’m attending the Carolina/UNC-Wilmington game in Chapel Thrill. Now, I’ve been to many a UNC game but this one is special because I will get to see my buddy Christian Stoinev again! If you recall, Christian is a talented acrobatic artist who performs all over the world. I became a fan of his when he competed on America’s Got Talent and, through my support on social media, Christian and I became “social media friends” if you will. I was finally able to meet him for the first time last year and he announced a while back that he would be returning to perform at UNC again this year. I’m definitely stoked for it!
