1. Reunited
Man, did I have a blast at the UNC game on Wednesday! I mean, I always have a good time, but this was extra special as my buddy Christian Stoinev was in town performing the halftime show again. I was stoked to learn a few months ago that he was coming back to Chapel Hill and immediately marked the game down on my calendar.
I didn’t only get to see Christian perform again. He messaged me and asked where I was sitting and came up to hang out for a little while after his performance. We talked about a lot – interspersed with folks asking for a picture of course – and got caught up with each other’s lives. I loved every minute of it! I’ve only known Christian for a few years but he’s an amazing performer but and even better human. There are not too many that would go out of their way – especially after just performing, getting stopped for photo ops, and having a God awful early flight out of town the next morning – to hang out. It meant more to me than anyone knows. I started following Christian when he performed on America’s Got Talent. One thing led to the next and now I can say I’m blessed to call this dude my friend. ‘Til the next time – but hopefully sooner than a year from now!
P.S. Check out some photos of his performance below!
2. LCT 2018
It’s that time, ladies and gents. The Living Christmas Tree began Thursday night and, for our first night, it went pretty well. Tonight’s show is sold out but there are still two more each on Saturday and Sunday. Click here for more info and tickets.
3. Runaway Set to Close
This one upsets me. Runaway, the Durham-based clothing and art brand, is closing down for good in early 2019. The owners announced via social media that it is simply time to move on to other ventures.
I’ve been a huge proponent of Runaway and own a few pieces of clothing from it. I first discovered Runaway when the brand collaborated with the Durham Bulls on a special jersey. Hearing that the brand is now disappearing into the oblivion has really hit a sour note on the whole thing. It’s incredibly disappointing that this unique brand will be no more in just a few weeks. I think what hurts most of all is this announcement came out of nowhere, really. What a shame.
4. This Is Us Snubbed by Golden Globes
It’s no secret that This Is Us is my favorite show on television at the moment, so what I’m about to say may be a tad biased. How in the world was this brilliant show snubbed by the Golden Globes? The nominations were announced this week at the hit NBC drama received not a single nomination. None. Nada. That’s just ridiculous, in my opinion. This Is Us is a beautifully crafted, once-in-a-lifetime kind of show that is incredibly relatable and far superior to just about anything on television right now.
This total snubbery means that I will not being wasting my time watching the Golden Globes this year, that’s for sure.
5. Thank You
I like to write little notes of thanks to you, my loyal readers from time to time and now is one of those times. I’d like to think you for continuing to read my posts all these years and for sticking with me while I made the transition from Squarespace to WordPress. I’m liking the new digs so far and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Reflections.
Thanks for Reading
