Dear ‘This Is Us‘

Whew! Where do I begin?

This Is Us has enthralled me since episode one. It was just something about the mixture of humor with real-world grief and the way in which the Pearson story was told. There were so many magical moments and moments to remember throughout the course of these six years.

Six years? Yes, it has been six years and it seems like they have flown as I witnessed the Pearson family grow. Grow from its start when Jack and Rebecca met, to having kids, those kids growing older, and seeing what each would pursue in life. From heart-wrenching moments like Rebecca losing a child at birth, to the miracle of Randall coming into their lives. To Randall being able to reconnect with his biological father later in life. To Jack’s unexpected death. Seeing Kevin blossom into the person Jack and Rebecca knew he could be. Kate pursuing her passion for music and helping blind children through that. Randall becoming a successful politician and difference-maker in the world.

There has been so much to enjoy. So much to cry. So much to look up to and be hopeful. And it’s all thanks to the incredible creators, writers, cast, and crew. These folks have worked tirelessly to present this series to viewers. People such as Dan Fogleman, Ken Olin, Chrissy Metz, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, Jon Huertas, Ron Cepheus Jones, the list goes on. I, for one, am so thankful to each and every one of them for the work and effort they put into their respective roles. The care and devotion to their roles made This Is Us what it was.

Oddly enough, I did not cry during the series finale on Tuesday night. I did, however, tear up when the final credits rolled. Knowing that was it. That was the end of the Pearson story. You may scoff at me for crying, heck, even writing this letter. This Is Us is a once-in-a-lifetime series. A series that I will always cherish until I grow old and beyond. Undoubtedly one of my all time favorite series, which I do not say lightly.

That being said, thank you to the creators, writers, actors, and crew. Thank you for six years of laughs, tears, and the amazing work you did to bring this remarkable series into our lives 💛
