It’s that time yet again for me to begin thinking about Photography Competition at the N.C. State Fair. I have participated in it for the past 10 years and have enjoyed it overall, despite some flaws. I will get to that in a second. Plus, I’ll also tell you why I actually won’t be entering the competition this year or in the foreseeable future.

1. Apple Coming to the Triangle?
Could Apple be heading to Research Triangle Park? News broke this week that this could very well be the case, as sources say a North Carolina campus for the tech giant is imminent. If it happens, Apple would reportedly invest $1.5 to 2 billion and an estimated 10,000 jobs could come to the Triangle. I guess time will tell.
1. Wolfpack Swimming/Diving in the NCAAs
N.C. State Swimming and Diving is taking the NCAAs by storm. The women’s team had its competition last week, finishing very strong in several events. The men’s team is competing this week and finds itself in third place overall. One of the major highlights so far is State defending its NCAA Title in the 800 Freestyle Relay event.
Enough is enough. I don't know what it's going to take to get common sense measures in place to curb or prevent mass shootings at our schools, churches, movie theaters, et. al. The latest tragic shooting took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, where 17 people lost their lives. This has sparked a movement like I haven't seen in quite sometime, spearheaded by many of the students who survived the shooting. The #NeverAgain movement started very quickly and continues to gain momentum.
President Trump held his first State of the Union address on Tuesday. I didn't watch it.
Believe it or not, I did give Trump a chance when he was elected. However, he has not proven to me that he can successfully lead our country. I’ll leave it at that.
1. Amazon’s Shortlist Includes Raleigh
Amazon narrowed candidate cities for a second headquarters from 238 to 20 on Thursday and Raleigh made the cut. The City of Oaks beat out its sister city Charlotte and joins the likes of Boston, Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta on the shortlist.
