It’s always interesting to see what happens when band members experiment outside of their bands. The experiment for Ryan Merchant and Spencer Ludwig has paid off pretty well .so far for HISTORY.

Merchant is half of the electro-pop duo, Capital Cities, while Ludwig rocks out on trumpet for the duo. Capital Cities is behind the awesome song – and still one of my favorites of 2014 – “Safe and Sound.” The song features some great trumpet playing by Ludwig and it has a really infectious rhythm.

HISTORY is a new venture for Merchant and Ludwig. The duo released its first single, aptly titled “History,” on Tuesday. The song features some powerful vocals from both Ludwig and Merchant, showcasing their many talents. Since its release, “History” has been played more than 86,000 times on SoundCloud and is featured in the “Hot Tracks” section on iTunes.
